My best addresses in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

Nicknamed the “Venice of the Comtadine”, L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue enchants us with its many canals and emblematic paddlewheels. This village, bathed by the crystal-clear waters of the Sorgue, offers an idyllic blend of history and nature. Its medieval streets, lined with ancient buildings and charming boutiques, invite you to stroll and discover. Renowned as a Mecca for second-hand goods. The village is home to numerous antique stores and art galleries, making it a must for bargain hunters and collectors from all over the world. Here are my top tips for enjoying this magical place!

Where to stay …

La Maison sur la Sorgue

This 17th-century mansion, remarkable for its architecture, has become a boutique hotel with character, offering refined surroundings, a magnificent garden and the Retour de Voyages art gallery, dedicated to encounters with artists and creators in connection with travels around the world. The gallery offers 5 or 6 exhibitions a year.

For lunch…

Le Jardin du quai

Stéphanie and Daniel Hébet welcome you to Le Jardin du Quai in l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, where they offer cuisine inspired by Provence and made with fresh produce, all set in a magnificent garden that invites you to relax. Take a break in an oasis of greenery far from the hustle and bustle of the village streets!

For a sweet break…

Maison Jouvaud

This emblematic regional patisserie is above all a family affair. The know-how has been handed down from generation to generation. You’ll discover succulent seasonal fruit tarts, chocolates, candied fruits and, above all, the best meringues in the world! To be enjoyed without moderation.

5 Av. des Quatre Otages, 84800 L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

For a trip back in time…

The antique dealers’ village at the station

Created in 1978 in a former silk spinning mill, this magnificent 3,000 m2 site has been completely refurbished. It features over 80 exhibitors on more than a hundred stands. Today, it’s still the town’s largest and oldest gathering of antique and second-hand dealers. The venue also houses the Café du Village for a refreshing gourmet break, and the Appart du Village where you can stay while you continue to bargain. The special feature: everything in this comfortable accommodation is for sale!

2 Av. de l’Égalité, 84800 L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

Discover the art of textiles…

La boutique de Francine

I love this little antique textile store, which has been collecting antique textiles for over 50 years, in a 200 m² space. You’ll find every type of piece from every era.

The abundance of stock allows enthusiasts to hunt for rare pieces, a veritable Ali Baba’s cave frequented by decorators, costume designers and stylists from all horizons!

Brun de Vian Tiran sensory museum and boutique

In an exceptional setting, you can discover the 15 stages in the manufacture of a fabric in their Sensory Museum.

After more than two centuries, Pierre and Jean-Louis Brun, respectively the 7th and 8th generations of this family business, invite you to share their passion for the world’s finest wools and for the craft of manufacturing.

On the first floor, enter their factory boutique.

Upstairs, you can watch the transformation of fiber into fabric on an immersive and interactive 1h30 tour: the wool market, the Mohair yarn cinema, the manufacturing labyrinth and the innovation and design laboratory.
